Having computer problem with new Dell XPS 15 L502X…?

I’m having some very annoying problems with my new laptop. I bought it about a month and a half ago, and about a month ago the hard drive crashed and dell support agreed to replace it, giving me the windows 7, Roxio software, and DVD power discs and of course the new hard drive. The technician installed the new hard drive, and installed windows 7 for me, telling me that i could install the drivers myself with the drivers and utilities disk I already had. I was also told to re-download McAfee Platinum, my graphics driver, and Microsoft Office Home and Student online. My main problems now are the following:
McAfee keeps crashing and the Action Center tells me to turn it back on, which I do but it happens every few start-ups anyways. I did a full scan with McAfee several times but to no avail.
Drivers keep crashing, especially my wireless card. At one point I also had another 3 unknown driver problems as well. i had to use system restore every time, and it gets very tedious and nerve-racking. The fact that system restore seems to fix these problems make me think its not a virus, but a computer flaw.
The turning on of the computer is flawless, but at login it goes very slowly, and seems to be getting slower every start-up. This does not occur at when I login, log off, then log back in again, and I find this strange.
Turbo Boost for my i5-2410 crashed but for some reason I was able to turn it back on again.
In short, I almost expect a new problem every time I open my laptop, and its starting to make me anxious. I have thought of two main solutions:
Call Dell.Support again and demand a full replacement
Re-install windows 7 (will this remove all problems?)
Hopefully one of those works, if not any suggestion? Please, I’m all ears!!!
MTH, i’m a bit unsure of how to do that. do I just insert the disk and follow onscreen instructions or something? Also, will re-installing windows completely remove any previous files, programs, etc. in case it is a virus problem? Also, I have no special files i need to keep, so wiping my hard drive would be no problem.
PS: I’m new to computers so please make instructions thorough.
Melinda, I’m not sure if that site’s reliable, because mcafee doesn’t have a check mark over it, it has a question mark, so i’ll pass thanks.
Carling, I’m actually seriously considering Linux, but I have a few questions: Do I need drivers, and can I run the following programs just as good as on windows: Itunes (with the store working of course), media go (“), DVD video soft, steam (a biggie, as i have bought several games already, and i love gaming on PC), any PC games (“), microsoft office home and student (I know about open office, but I already bought this. Yes I have hears of wine, but I also heard it was a bit buggy, and running two OSes at once could be a major slowdown, esp. when I’m playing Crysis! Thanks in advance
MTH, I don’t have a lot of time right now (exams), but i’ll try it out in about a week, thanks.
Oh, and Carling, I have a geforce 540m, and I’m not sure how to install the drivers. I also heard that geforce drivers could be a problem on linux. any suggestions?

Since Vista is not Turing-complete, can we even consider it an OS?

I think to consider software an operating system, it should be required to prioritize the end user’s instructions over the manufacturer’s. Vista clearly does not do that… Did anyone realize that Media Center refuses to record NBC programs?

Plus, global DRM? WTF. A feature I don’t want, can’t turn off, and does nothing but slow the system down.

If you’re wondering, I <3 my Ubuntu. New OSX is pretty slick too.

That said, what do we call Vista if it’s not an OS? Applianceware? Hell if I know. Suggestions?
Something non-pejorative, in hopes that they’ll call it something different in stores.

Help uninstalling programs?

My computer has been a little slow lately. It takes longer to boot-up, shut-down or log-off. Programs open a little slower, and Firefox keeps on getting hung up on pages. I just did a defragment and Disk Cleanup, now I’m uninstalling programs. (There are 97!!!) I don’t know which of these I can safely remove:
Google Apps
Google Update Helper (What is this used for?)
Google Updater
Google Talk Plugin (This is for using video chat in Gmail, correct?)

Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable
Microsoft Search Enhancement Pack
Junk Mail filter update
Microsoft Application Error Reporting
Microsoft Choice Guard
Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Compact Edition [ENU]
Microsoft Sync Framework Runtime Native v1.0 (x86)
Microsoft Sync Framwork Servies Native v1.0(x86)
MSVCRT
Windows Live Call, Communications Platform, Essentials, Family Safety, etc.
Microsoft Visual C 2005 ATL Update kb973923 – x86 8.0.50727.4053
Microsoft Visual C 2008 ATL Update kb973924 – x86 9.0.30729.4184
Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable – x86 9.0.21022
Windows Live Sign-in Assistant
HERE is a complete list of crap installed by Microsoft:

http://bayimg.com/image/haejnaacg.jpg

NVIDIA Drivers (Why is this listed in programs?)
NVIDIA Sterscopic 3D Driver

System Requirments Lab

Viewpoint Media Player

Adobe Flash Player 10 ActiveX, Plugin (Why is there two?) + Shockwave Player 11.5

Apple Application Support
Apple Mobile Device Support
Quicktime
Bonjour
(I only need iTunes and Safari, but Apple installed all this with it)

Dell Support Center (Support Softare)
DellSupprt
DellConnect

HP Print Diagnostic Utility
HP Driver Diagnostics
HP Product Detection

CDDRV_Installer
KhalInstallWrapper
erLT
Logitech SetPoint, QuickCam, Updater, Desktop Manager,
(All by logitech, including CDDRV and down)

Razer DeathAdder (TM) Mouse (I have this mouse, but what is the point of this software?)

Rhapsody Player Engine (Do I need this to listen to Rhapsody?)
SigmaTel Audio (Is this required for audio?)
Java(TM) 6 Update 7,10 (Why are there two, and why are they update?)

Any help is appreciated!!

Do I need a database or something a little more in depth?

I am in need of a way to access my large amounts of resources for our outpatient chemical dependency treatment center. I was thinking I might need to make a database so that when the guys call or come in looking for, lets say a halfway house for example, I can type “halfway house” into a field and it will pull up all the halfway houses I have inputted into the database. And I would like to be able to narrow the search down by county and what sort of funding they take, things like that. Maybe I don’t even need a “database” I’m not really sure. So if someone could let me know if there is a free online resource or even software for my needs, it would be so greatly appreciated. Thanks!
