how can i pick up a british english accent?
I live in the Uk, but I’m originally from the Middle East. I work in a call center and it seems that some customers struggle to understand me. I’m looking for any audio cds or software that are specefically designed to reduce and even eliminate foreign accents. Any ideas? I can use any other helpful hints you may think of. Cheers !
Honestly, this is what I would do. Do you have the means and ability to get a speech therapist? One-on-one training with a speech therapist would benefit you TREMENDOUSLY. Tapes and videos can be for in-between therapy sessions. Good luck!
I would echo the use of a speech therapist as the first option.
Failing that it is down to you to study how people speak using films or even better recordings of tv programmes.
Video general soaps or dramas that don’t have obvious accents and mimic what the actors say. Try to notice stresses put on words that are obviously different to how you would say them.
It will take some hard work but all power to you for wanting to try.
