How do you think dissolving companies unless they have 40% women on their boards is going to fare?
FIRMS FACE QUOTA DEADLINE

Norway’s center-left government has issued a warning to 140 companies that still don’t have enough women on their boards of directors: Appoint more, or be dissolved.
Companies organized as “ASA” corporations are required to meet a state-mandated quota that calls for 40 percent of their directors to be women.
The quota was ushered in during the previous center-right government coalition, and has been enthusiastically embraced by the current Labour Party-led government.
Equality minister Karita Bekkemellem told newspaper Aftenposten on Friday that those companies failing to meet the quota will face involuntary dissolution from January 1. Many are within traditionally male-oriented branches like the offshore oil industry, shipping and finance.
Garwy: I’m going to refer to your post here any time someone suggest the status quo might be problematic in say Iran, or anywhere else for that matter.

This question has been asked before. Again, Norway has been voted best country to live in 4 years in a row by the UN. They must be doing something right. Maybe instead of criticizing you should try to learn from them.
Right, and I figure you’ll give me thumbs down, but I’m not here to make anyone happy. I’m here to give my educated opinion, I will not sugarcoat it for anyone…
The companies could always move out of Norway and away from this law. Then the jobs go too.

Good luck to them. Though I’m not sure what they’re trying to accomplish. Policies like this one make no sense to me. If you find the right person, what does it matter what gender they are?
OMG, I bet there aren’t even enough educated or qualified women ALIVE to fill those Board of Director positions. They’ll never be able to find enough women among the 51% of the population.
They’re screwed.
Wouldn’t it be great to stop looking at gender and interview candidates for board positions and others shielded as they do when interviewing identity masked informants. Audio corrupt their voice, dark shadow their figure and dress and number their resumes. Wouldn’t that yield some interesting new statistics?
i should imagine that norway’s government knows rather more about norway’s needs and capabilities than you do.
i should imagine that norway’s electorate (who elected norway’s government) also have a pretty shrewd idea of what is best for norway. (after all, they are norway).
why don’t you stick to posting on stuff you know about and understand?
(though i realise that in your case this would result in your leaving us entirely).
