Call centres overseas?

Hiya American People!
I am from Britain and I have a question for you:
Here in the UK, most major companies have call centres in India. Such as Virgin Media, mobile phone companies, major banks…
Microsoft Xbox support is in Estonia…
Do you have the same thing there?
I mean, do you have to struggle to understand what the called “customer service” has to say?
It’s quite interesting and I really want to know if this idiotic idea is exclusively British.
Cheers from the UK!
Hey Eric…
I do understand your point. However, Hindis living in the UK get to learn our accent a bit better as well as our expressions and stuff…
But Hindis in India, don’t know a thing about Britain and can’t even tell you how our legislation works. They say whatever they want and don’t hold any liability for that.
And besides, it is very unfair to Brits. Building call centres in India takes jobs away from Britain. It makes British customers angry (we don’t understand them). I know it is cheaper to run an office in India, but come on! It is unfair. You must agree with it. The same happens there and US is losing jobs, opportunities for a few dollars an hour.
I believe that customer service is EVERYTHING a company has. Companies must do whatever makes the customer happy.
And, besides that, they could still use the quote “we are generating employment in the UK” as a sales hook. I think that it’s beyond our acceptance.
Don’t you worry, mate…
As you might know, ALL the other companies (that includes BT – which stands for BRITISH telecom), also has call centres in India.
However, when you pick the option “if you are thinking of leaving us, please press 5″……. You get the proper and beautifully spoken English. Strange, isn’t it? The business retention team is always VERY British… For some reason…
hahahahaha
