The term ‘rack’ loosely refers to the renting or purchasing a ‘rack – space’ of a server of hosting company which gives you the space to have your own business.
In some cases, the server of the concerned company can be even taken on lease. The advantage is that you need not have your own data centre for hosting a server. There are many benefits of rack hosting or collocation hosting.
• The initial setup cost is way less than having to buy a server and then doing the necessary cooling, cabling and space allocation. When you want to run your own website or say an email program, you will certainly not think of an individual server unit and space – funds required are quite high. This is a boon for the businesses which are in the nascent stage. The hosting company will take care of all the necessary equipments and other requirements when it rents out the rack space.
