His team’s study looked at a group of patients admitted to hospital with blood clots and heart problems and found that 34% (a far higher figure than the range reported for airline related DVT) had been seated at work for long periods. “There are considerably more people who are seated for long periods at work as part of their normal day than there are travelling”. He added that the main groups particularly affected are workers in the IT industry and call centres and further commented “people are working for so long.
