Why ‘Islamophobia’ is less thinly veiled in Europe

Why ‘Islamophobia’ is less thinly veiled in Europe
Rooful Ali is an accountant who commutes, “suited and booted,” to his corporate office in London from Northamptonshire, England, where he grew up in a Bangladeshi family. His avocation is photography. But he also finds time to direct the first Europe-wide association of Muslim professionals.

Why do employers spend less money and time training new employees for their jobs compared to 30 years ago?

I have been working at two seperate jobs now (both call centers). One was at a call center for a law firm and that only lasted one week. The training was only one week and didn’t go very smoothly. It seems that companies here in Texas are training people less and less. A majority of the time new employees really don’t know what to do on the job. It seems that training new employees is not a top priority of companies these days compared to 30 years ago and are spending less money on that training to cut costs. My question is why is this trend happening and is there any way of changing it so employees know what their job functions and roles are and know what to do on the job? Is this in other sectors too? I am now working in a call center and it is related to DSL and the internet and they only train new employees for a week and it only lasts 20 hours and they pay very cheap and expect people to pretty much be a network technician when they are completed. Why do employers do this?
News Update: My company (a call center) told me they have a high turnover rate too, doesn’t really suprise me since training is so fast. I am working and I have a disability and that is a shock here in Texas since those with sight impairments face a 90% unemployment rate here in this state. The main reasons are employers, state beauracracies/agencies, and most importantly Transportation. Remember this is a Bush (R) state and nobody in Texas knows how to drive and that is why there are so many wrecks and fatalities here.

How to make my work space less boring?

Sitting at work I get really tired and bored sometimes. It’s a call center, so sometimes there can be dead times. The walls, ceiling, floor, and desk are all GRAY. Is there something I can do to stimulate me so I am not just falling asleep?

Note: It is third shift so it tends to be even more difficult to stay awake sometimes, and the solution cannot run on electricity unless it is batter powered. Coffee doesn’t really work well either. Any suggestions?

You must live in a third world country, since YOU live on less than $2 in a G8 nation.?

I often hear about 3rd world poverty being described as living on less than $2 USD per day. Yet like most buzz phrases it does not encompass the complexity of the issue. Par example, you of course cannot survive in a first world nation on $2 BUT many people in poor countries could live quite well on $60USD per month. What this means in short is that someone making $2 a day in some exploited neo colonialism backwater, actually lives better than MILLIONS of people in the so-called 1st world. Most people sleeping under bridges in the u.s. would prefer the dignity and satisfaction of being exploited in a 3rd world sweatshop, if it meant a roof over their head and providing for their family each night. When we released the manufacturing sector of our economy 20yrs ago, they told us that we would be a technological white collar economy. Then they used work visas to hire techno savvy people from africa and india, plus doctors and call centers were place offshore. 3rd world is growing…
cont- to include more and more of us everyday. This is guaranteed certainty when you consider 2 undisputed factors. 1. The amount of wealth held by the richest percent of the population is growing and 2. The official definition(not culturally misguided one that teaches only non black and brown countries avoid corruption and know how to add) but of exploitation with upside down economies forced to try and trade raw resources(like sugar) for cars and televisions. This makes a growing number of people in 1st world countries, 3rd world residents. Most 1st world households are 3rd world. YOU are trying to trade you skills to companies on the world market and keep using credit to mortgage your future earning for a bit of fancy trappings today. Most of my generation finds themselves with multiple degrees and a fear of having children only to be falling behind in reaching financial security. Everyone going to college is afraid to come out before they turn 40 because they keep telling
cont–you that education has something to do with income. You go to school an extra 4 years and the job is still taught to someone in 3 weeks in india. This dampens wages worldwide(like commodity prices for 3rd world) while having 1st world cravings and needs. Consider yourself the 3rd world leader of your home. Comments welcome.
food for thought on the detailed version of 3rd world
