Why can’t 911 service be outsourced to a large call center to save tax payers money?
I’m just wondering with all the advances in technology, why can’t 911 service just be outsourced to a large independent call center that just handles 911 calls? This would probably save tax pays thousands and thousands of dollars every year, since local police departments wouldn’t have to hire dispatchers anymore. Everything could just be computerized. So, for instance if there is a burglary, the rep in the call center could just send a policeman in the town a text message, or something like that, to respond to that person’s house. I think maybe this could even eliminate a lot of local police departments all together. We could just have larger regional police departments that serve a whole entire county, instead of just one town. So, that way the tax payers pay even less. I think probably some local fire station could close too. After all, how many fires are there everyday? I’ll bet some of those volunteer stations aren’t even used once a week. A big waste of money. It’s time to get wise and really cut back on the public safety. Right now it’s overkill I think.
