So you own a business that uses some sort of call center function, whether it is voice, non voice customer service, lead generation, or a back office process. You, like many other executives, have understand the potential benefits of call center outsourcing. The excellent news is you are not by yourself. Many before you have already gone down this road, albeit a rocky one oftentimes. The arduous task is finding a call center that meets your company’s needs. So where do you start?
1. Convey your goal or desired outcome.
I know this seems pretty basic but you must be certain of what you want the offshore call center to do. Let’s assume you are in the mortgage business. You see the economics and the dollars you can save by outsourcing your call center. It would be ok for you to want to move the whole sales process from opening to close offshore and take full advantage of these economies. The key is, will these call centers be able to deliver all functions as efficiently as you would in your office. Maybe, and possibly not. You could in this example, use an offshore call center to generate the mortgage lead, filter the applicant , and in essence have them hot transfer the qualified prospects to your closers. Your best closers are typically some of the most cherished employees you have and you may believe their time is best used selling and not wasting hours on the phone. Your best bet may be to put as many interested applicants in front of them and let them work their mojo.
Every company will have a multitude of things to think about. If you are a company promoting software you may want to decide what piece of the process you may want to outsource. It might be level 1 tech support exclusively, with all escalated calls going to your in house experienced technical support staff. If level 1 can handle 95% of all calls, outsourcing will significantly reduce call center expenses.
This information is important. You will need this information when interviewing a call center. It is paramount to make sure they clearly understand your goals and objectives. You have to determine if they have the essential skills to reach your goals.
Call center outsourcing is a segment poised to explode. With directives to cut costs and the availability of good talent offshore, the decision seems like a smart one. It may be the best cost eliminating move you can make, if you select the correct partner. So really identify what part of your call center you want to outsource and then decide wisely.
