Songs of Praise (BBC Children in Need) Sir Terry Wogan @ BT Tower

BBC Children in Need’s 2010 fundraising campaign launched with a special edition of the long-running BBC television show Songs of Praise. Partly filmed at the BT Tower in London, the show was hosted by celebrity presenter Sir Terry Wogan and featured an appearance by Pudsey Bear. BT community investment programme manager Beth Courtier said: “The support that BT gives BBC Children in Need is absolutely integral to the whole appeal — and this Songs of Praise special is a fantastic and fun way to profile our ongoing commitment.” BT Tower will be one of around 50 call centres manned nationally by more than 5000 BT staff and volunteers on the night of the telethon — 19 November. Beth added: “This year’s theme is Show Your Spots. As with every telethon, BT people are encouraged to have fun and raise money for BBC Children in Need.” BT has supported Children in Need since the first televised event back in 1980 and continues to provide the telephony, network management, call centres, volunteers and online support to help raise millions of pounds to support the most needy in society. Last year, BT handled more than 200000 calls in total for the charity.

BT has now handled more than 7million calls (7001511) to the Comic Relief donation line since the first Red Nose Day in 1988.” The BT Red Nose Desert Trek saw celebrities walk across 100km through Kenya: Lorraine Kelly, Scott Mills, Dermot O’Leary, Craig David, Ronni Ancona, Peter White, Kara Tointon, Olly Murs, and Nadia Sawalha.
